Taking Back Iceland

With holidays, family reunions and business meetings being interrupted all over the world, there’s probably a lot of quiet vitriol being directed at Iceland at the moment. That coupled with a stunning banking industry collapse, recession woes and fair dose of rotten luck, Iceland has had a tough few years.

But they’re a plucky bunch and to rush to their defense, I’d like to honor them and the country this Friday by spotlighting some of its more beautiful virtues. In the end Iceland is still, and will always be, an amazing place to visit.

It’s still very easy to add Iceland to a round-the-world itinerary. Flights leave from major European gateways to through Reykjavik and onward to North America every day. Try adding it to a Trip Planner itinerary and see how much it will be. Ashes will cloud the skies there for only so long.

  1. Just wanted to add that I visited Iceland last spring- rented a car and drove the periphery of the Ring Road (drove right by Eyfyallayöküll actually). Was one of the strangest and prettiest countries I’ve ever seen. Definitely recommend it!
