Back in June, Skytrax, the web's most noted airline rating service, released their list of the top 10 best airports in the world. Since every round-the-world or multi-stop trip could at least come close to landing at or departing from one of these places, it may be worth your while to take a gander at the list. It way even be worth a small detour on your itinerary to check them out! You never know, a sweet spa treatment or shopping find may be in the cards before your next flight.
The list was compiled after survey taken in each airport with questions about passenger satisfaction. And while the airport you leave from or arrive into may not make or break your travel experience, a travel day can certainly be made unpleasant (or better) due to the quality of the airport inside of which you could be spending some serious time.
The following is the Best Airports list for 2009:
There are a few others that should be noted for being of excellent quality and having great services:
- Best in North America: Dallas/Fort Worth
- Best in Central America: Panama
- Best in South America: Lima
- Best Dining: Hong Kong
- Cleanest Washrooms: Kansai
- Best Leisure Amenities: Singapore
- Overall Cleanliness: Seoul
The full list can be found on Skytrax's website here.
A quick note about the rating's methodology: the World Airport Awards are based on results from more than 8.6 million questionnaires completed by airline passengers over the 2008 and 2009 survey period, covering 190 airports worldwide with over 95 passenger nationalities participating.
