We here at AirTreks speak to a lot of people over the course of a day, many having lists of preconceived notions about what is and isn’t possible with an around the world airplane ticket, its rules and how they must be used. Unfortunately a lot of what they’ve heard is for a type of ticket that AirTreks is simply not beholden to, namely because we’re not the airlines.
I’m here to clear up the mysteries of these tickets vis-à-vis AirTreks, by clarifying some of the most common misconceptions.
It’s been a crazy year for airline fees. Unbundling has become a four letter word for people who rely on discount plane tickets to get around. Nowadays the cheapest ticket doesn’t always equal the least amount spent. With the airlines unbundling their services, the lowest price usually comes with the most hitches (eg, fees for luggage, seat requests, food, drinks, blankets, smiles and warm cozy feelings).
