There are a thousand routes around the world. Ask a different traveler and you’ll get a different answer about which route is the best, which region is the most beautiful and which curry will most quickly light your mouth on fire.
But even with these voices, you still need a little objective advice to help make your decision the best one when planning a route of your own, the opinion of someone who has seen what travelers do and why. To help dampen the noise of popular opinion, I’ve assembled a helpful list of 5 different routes that make sense in getting you around the world.
The following trips are compiled with a few things in mind: price (overall cost-effectiveness), efficiency (fewer hours in the air), value (getting more for your money) and overall amazingness of the destinations (based on common perceptions of what’s cool in the world to visit).
These are in no particular order and arbitrarily go in an easterly direction, even though prices are typically similar regardless of which direction you travel. They all start in New York, for lack of a better starting point. Yours can start from wherever you happen to be.

A quick note of public information: for the remainder of May until mid-June the AirTreks travel blog will be on a period of reduced activity in order to focus on the launch of our new website and me going to celebrate my marriage with a honeymoon in Croatia.
Until mid-June updates to the blog will be scant. But never fear, the AirTreks user experience will be back to form soon, and better than ever as soon as it does. We’re really liking our new look. We hope you do too.
Stay tuned for the new AirTreks.com. Looking forward to seeing you all back in June!

The around the world travel idea has been popping up a lot lately, and outside its admittedly tight-knit circles. More and more people are pushing the comfortable borders of Europe when not more
than 20 years ago only the most adventurous American would consider traveling elsewhere. These days anywhere is fair game.
Yes, people are finally envisioning a vastly larger destination palate. Landscapes with hugely exotic sights and sounds are available without the extra effort that was formerly obligatory. The digital age has shown us just how small our world can be and our ability to get there is changing Disney World into Real World with an ease our parents would have been jealous of.
