Tired of flights that give you nothing more than precooked Beef Wellington and yet another viewing of Air Bud? Well, a couple months ago a Lufthansa flight from Tel-Aviv to Frankfurt spontaneously broke out in a PILLOW FIGHT WAR, with a flight attendant right amidships in the center of it all. How’s that for upping bitter attitudes.
In the age of Stephen Slater’s and other horrifying incidents, it’s nice to know there can be some spontaneous fun on an airplane for a change. I love the boisterous applause at the end.
Happy Friday everyone!

As you’ve probably noticed, I’m a big fan of time-lapse videos, especially ones with a sense of place that draw you in to either go there or to else reminisce on the time you’ve already spent there. I also feel it’s a great way to capture the spirit of remembering because in the minds-eye time has little relevance already, no?
Today’s selection was chosen in part to honor our sales manager Sara who is currently vacationing on a couple of the beaches you see here, and partly because so many people know and love these locations in Thailand. The video was produced by a Spaniard who visited the country in ‘09 and took shots with his DSLR to provide a stunning visual portrait of his short trip through Thailand. These are his 10 days pared down to 4 minutes.
The scenes are Koh Samui, Koh Phangan , Koh Tao, Nang Yuan and Bangkok. Have a great weekend!
The video is in HD so it may take a few minutes to get going.
As a traveler at heart there may be nothing better than abbreviating your day by watching a travel video, one that whisks you away ever so briefly and feeds that craving to be on the road. If you either can’t go or are desperately waiting to, it’s a way to quell that chronic and ever-present traveler’s impatience. Let’s take a second, shall we, to appreciate the people who’ve embarrassed themselves with a video camera around the world so we didn’t have to.
Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as you might think to find great travel videos on the web, ones both inspiring and worth your time to watch. So to help, I’ve put together a handful of places where you can find them and one that are often well-crafted and interesting to boot.
Here are the best 7 sites I found to watch travel videos for free. So sit back and relax, take in a film and feel that impatience ebbing away…
Time lapse videos are all the rage these days. Time-defying sequences are as beautiful as they are mesmerizing and never fail to set the imagination running. Add an international setting to the mix and you have a perfect edition to the Friday Afternoon Palate Cleanser series.
Today’s video comes to you by way of Alex Silver and London, England. This heart-felt tribute uses 7,757 individual photos he took during the last of his days studying there and set it to the tune of “You’ve Got the Love” by Florence and the Machine.
Hope you enjoy it like we did: Jolly good!
Hi everyone! While Nico’s on vacation I’m going to attempt to sporadically fill his shoes here on our blog. I know we usually post a video to get you ready for the weekend, and this one is one of my faves I’ve seen online recently. AirTreks has seen a lot of amazing days in San Francisco, and this video captures our fair city at its best. Enjoy!

Creative types are always going places looking for just one more thing to sink their fingers into up to their knuckles. This is a good thing – it gives us some of the most interesting and thought-provoking pieces of travel-related entertainment that we can find online.
The following video was filmed and directed by two French fellows, Romain Pergeaux and Alex Profit, who took a round-the-world trip last year to film their project.
From their YouTube site:
A project done in only 3 weeks. The making of the video, pictures and an interview of Alex Profit can be seen at www.tourdumonde80.fr. Our tour included stops in London – Cairo – Mumbay – Hong Kong – Tokyo – San Francisco – New York – London. This route is a tribute to the famous Jules Verne’s book “Le tour du monde en 80 jours”.
This installment is part of our Friday Afternoon Palate Cleanser series of travel videos found on the web. To see all the other items in the series click here.
A huge percentage of people that do round the world trips spend at least part of their time in Southeast Asian countries. Based on what they take away, it’s not surprising why so many want to not only visit, but stay for long period s of time.
There’s something very touching about this video; great photography, music and a wonderful sense of pacing. Plus it gives you a sense of the simplicity of life in that area of the world. I love the second half, where all the faces come together to showcase the culture and the people.
Why do so many people travel in Southeast Asia? This typifies it, have a look.
This Friday we give you the glorious Earth. Though the video may be a little heavy on the trance techno (the volume slider is bottom right), this colorful hi-def video really delivers the natural beauty of our home planet.
If you’ve got sweet spot for picture perfect landscapes, these 8 and a half sublime minutes will hit you where it counts.
Have a great weekend!
Even though they jet across continents, rock stars were never supposed to be travel activists. Fortunately Mike Doughty is in the process of vindicating the addled indie rock community by filming the video for his latest release (You Should Be) Doubly (Gratified) amidst the beautiful settings of the Angkor Archeological Area and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Watch him as he sings his way around beautiful landmarks, tuk-tuk’ing and lounging next to the famous thousand-year-old smiles. Oh, it’s a great song too!
Have a great weekend!
Thanks to Mike at Vagabondish for the find.

In the traveler’s world of gray concrete, black asphalt and dull steel-silver it’s important to step into another color every once in awhile – in this case green. Those smart enough to traverse the Croatian countryside to the Plitvice Jezera region will be treated to what may be the most pleasant hiking experience they’ll ever have. Over slatted boardwalks, landscaped trails and stone steps through some of the most stunning terrain anywhere, the lakes of Plitvice National Park will bring you suddenly into the Garden of Eden.
