The World Airline Awards is the most prestigious of all the airline ranking awards today, and also possibly the most reliable since it tallies actual traveler opinions to calculate winners, as opposed to a bunch of curmudgeonly old critics who make their living out of finding the worst in things.
This year the top World Airline Awards spot was reacquired by perpetually excellent Emirates Airlines, the carrier who started the awards by winning the title twice in a row, in 2001 and 2002, and residing in the top 10 every year since.
AirTreks is happy to see Emirates win — we send hundreds of our customers on Emirates flights every year. So it’s great to know every one of them is having a good experience out there in the skies.
To find the winners, SkyTrax, the venerated the airline raking site who’s name is synonymous with the awards, tallies reviews from 18.2 million passengers hailing from 160 countries around the world, judging everything from cabin cleanliness to food quality to in-flight entertainment.
“We operate these Awards on a not-for-profit basis, and apply rigorous monitoring to the survey process, guaranteeing that there is no outside influence or airline involvement,” says Edward Plaisted, SkyTrax’s executive who heads the awards.
If you’re interested in trying out Emirates Airlines for yourself on your around the world trip feel, or any one of the airlines above, free to submit a trip and make that request to your Personal Travel Consultant. They’ll set you up!
Is Emirates the best airline in the world? We think it’s great, and it is still one of the fastest growing airlines in the world serving more than 129 destinations in 72 countries. If you’re flying internationally, chances are you’ll be going somewhere Emirates goes.
