The world wide web is a big place, pretty much as big as the “real world” if you think about it. Even when you narrow down your subject matter to a travel theme there’s still copious material, some good, some not so much.

On Fear

Every traveler has an quantity of fear they bring on the road with them. It’s inherent and totally natural. Jeffrey at Have Pack, Will Travel gives you some advice to help conquer it.

The fear factor as described by Chris in his blog The Art of Non-Conformity. In the piece he quotes M. Scott Peck: “The absence of fear is not courage. The absence of fear is some kind of brain damage.”

On Long Term Traveling

An article from the Almost Fearless blog written about staying for a long period of time in a particular foreign country (namely how to overstay your tourist visa. Wink wink.)

Nora at Transitions Abroad posted this article showcasing actual people who decided to transform vacations into a lifelong adventures with “location independent” lifestyles.

On lessons about America while on the road

As personal insight into travel and the American Dream by Debra at Brave New Traveler.

On when to go

“When should I go?” is one of the most popular questions people have when planning their trip. Dan at TwoGoRTW  has some insight in this well-written article.

On overcoming your own objections

Over the summer Anil at Fox Nomad wrote an illuminating series of seven posts on personal objections you raise to keep yourself from traveling–and how to overcome them. An excellent motivator if you’re the kind of person who creates your own reasons not to do something. (I liked the section “You don’t know what your significant other will say.”)

On budgeting

Dave at Go Back Packing Around the World wrote one of my favorite posts about travel costs with info gleaned from his own round the world trip. Helpful to those preparing for theirs.
